A Hot Dinners exclusive
It's been a while since someone stealthily opened an interesting new burger place in London. Back when Hot Dinners first started up we had the likes of MEATliquor popping up in the car park in Peckham and Bleecker landing a pitch on the South Bank. But in an age where everyone has a phone and every restaurant has an Insta account (and extensive marketing plan) not so much.
That means we were doubly intrigued when Supernova started popping up on our FYP. It was a brand new burger restaurant, down the street where everyone queues for the next Supreme drop. A look at their website revealed the sparsest of details - they were serving up burgers, fries and sundaes. And they were only open for a few hours during the day. A little more digging revealed that this is the latest business of David Bellaiche and Gabriel Cohen who are behind cookie sensation Creme and NAC in Mayfair.
It's serving up the most edited of menus - a classic cheeseburger, a house cheeseburger, homemade fries and a choice of two sundaes, caramel and chocolate. To that we can add a few details - it's a smash burger, topped with gherkins and pickles and served in a potato bun.. As chef Jeremy Coste explained to Hot Dinners: "What sets our burger apart is actually its simplicity. We do a very basic burger using the freshest and highest quality ingredients. Our patties are thin and crispy.
Might we see any more burgers being added? It doesn't seem so according to Jeremy. "We like small menus and the philosophy of doing little but well."
It may have opened under the radar but this latest opening is already a hit if the buzz and queues are anything to go by.
