Jolene Bakery and its offshoot Big Jo have been a huge success story of the past few years - you only have to see the queues snaking down from both during lockdown to know that.
Over the weekend, the team behind them revealed their plans for what seem like London baking domination. First, they're expanding their customer base by launching an All Electric Jolene-Mobile. That, we're told, "will zoom quietly around town from Hornsey to Shoreditch via Islington to deliver all our freshly baked goods on a daily basis." There also seems to be plans to deliver more than just baked goods, with Big Jo At Home offering pasta delivery too.
But that's not all. They have two new openings planned for this year. The first will be in the next few weeks, on Islington's Colebrooke Row. The next will be in the summer, in Shoreditch on Redchurch Street. Both are what they're calling "bakery satellites" - with the intention of providing more space to sell baked goods made from the raw materials supplied by farms who subscribe to "a sustainable and soil positive regenerative system".
