In the heart of Chelsea, there isn't much in the way of rooftop dining, so expect the arrival of Beatrix on the King's Road to be a hit when it opens. Taking over the top floor of the new The Gaumont building opposite Chelsea Town Hall, this new modern British brasserie will boast a wrap-around terrace that has been fully weatherproofed. That's useful to know, particularly given its expected winter opening date.
It's from the same team behind popular Mexican spot Ixchel, further down the road. Running the kitchen is chef Eamon Reis, who was acting Head Chef at Straker's in Notting Hill, and before that was also at Brat and Lardo. Here he's put together a very British menu, so think Devon crab crumpets and beef tartare with crispy potato or maybe Cornish hake with sea beet. They're also going all-in on the kind of large sharing dishes designed for the whole table, with a Beatrix Fish Pie, Rotisserie chickens and massive bone-in British steaks on offer.

Desserts have a nursery pudding bent, so there's trifle, Eton mess and apple crumble planned. We're also very much sold on the idea of the Guinness ice cream float. They're also promising an enticing breakfast spread with everything from dippy eggs with soldiers and Marmite butter to porridge with caramelised pear and toasted hazelnuts.
Design-wise, it's quite the looker; designers The Nanu Group were also behind Ixchel and Mistress of Mayfair. But one thing's for sure: it's that huge terrace that's going to be the real draw.
