The Harts Group (who are the people that run Barrafina) are making some big changes in Borough Yards. Until recently, they've had a trio of openings there: Barrafina, Parrillan and Bar Daskal. However, one of those is no more. Parrillan is gone, and in its place comes new "cerveceria" Los Primos.
This new bar is inspired by the kind of neighbourhood bars that many of you will have come across in Spain and wished we could have something like them in London. Well that's what they're trying to do here. So, like them, Los Primos will be walk-in only. As part of all this, it also sounds like they're making quite a few changes to the room, with everything centred around a steel-topped bar where, just like you would see in somewhere like San Sebastian, the day's tapas will be laid out on.
As for the food, they're going for all the classics. So they'll have tortilla, lomo de cerdo, chorizo or egg bocadillos, fried crispy pig's ears, bomba stuffed with txistorra sausage, chorizo cooked in cider, tuna empanadas, and more. It's essentially very much a drop-in and fill up on tapas kind of place. And those tapas will be served alongside beer, wine, cider and vermouth, all on tap.
It'll be their second bar in the area, as it looks like Bar Daskal is staying put. Meanwhile, Parrillan in King's Cross is closed for the winter, but unlike Borough Yards, that will be returning in the spring.
