Test Drive

It's one of London's best restaurants and has two Michelin stars to boot. But did you know that there's a new(ish) bar at A. Wong and you can try some of their food down there? We went along to see what they're serving up. 

A talented young team are behind this wine-forward, new-wave Asian restaurant in Bethnal Green. We found Tempo very much to our taste.

New Chelsea restaurant Beef & Bass focuses on serving up two key ingredients really well. We went to the King's Road to see if they delivered on their promise. 

What was once Smokehouse has been transformed into Islington's newest French restaurant, Bistro Sablé. As locals, we went along to see just how the transformation has changed things. 

He was last in London heading up Jason Atherton's Sosharu but now chef Alex Craciun is back with his own restaurant that plays with multiple influences in a great-looking setting. We went down to check it out. 

Twenty years after opening his singular (and much-loved) wine bar in Shoreditch, Luca Dusi has expanded to Clerkenwell. We went to see whether his new Exmouth Market bar retains the cosy ambience of the original. 

Dover Street Counter is The Dover's younger, more fun sibling and, as we discovered, is a startlingly good value spot for Mayfair.

Khao Bird sees the Thai barbecue restaurant graduate from a Borough Market residency to a permanent Soho restaurant. We went down to see what they're cooking up in their new digs. 

London's temple to Guinness has finally opened in Covent Garden. We went down to check it out, particularly to see what Pip Lacey's cooking up in the rooftop restaurant, Gilroy's Loft.

Billed as Kith's first standalone restaurant, Ronnie's is a New York bistro in London by way of the Mediterranean. We went to check it out.

London's run of stealth openings continues with Automat. The American brasserie returns with a new team and a hidden-away location in Mayfair.

Hawksmoor's latest restaurant in King's Cross might be their grandest dining room yet, as well as a destination bar. We went down to check it out. 

As the follow-up to The Dover, expectations were high for Martino's (or would have been but for the stealth opening). Luckily, Martin Kuczmarski has used this to prove  he's not a one-hit wonder.

Matt Abé graduated from Restaurant Gordon Ramsay to his own place, opening on the hallowed ground that used to be Le Gavroche. We went to Mayfair to see what he's done with the place.  

Crisp Pizza's arrival in Mayfair at The Marlborough is peak London food scene hype. We went down to see if those pizzas live up to the sky-high expectations.
