As the saying goes, when one door closes, another opens. For this story, it's more a case of the same door, just a different restaurant behind it. The door in question is at 10 Greek Street, where just a few weeks ago we learned that the restaurant there was closing. Fast forward three weeks and we can now reveal that this space is going to be the third restaurant for Portuguese group Bar Douro.

Chef Josh Dallaway and sommelier Sinead Murdoch's Tasca has been extremely well received in both its original appearance at (now closed) Cav and the follow-up residency at Giacco's. Now they're launching a new residency for the summer (and maybe longer). 

They'll be taking over Shoreditch cafe Project 44, and bringing in their menu, which is a crossover between Spanish and Portuguese cuisine. That means things start off with smaller plates like cured Cecina de León on grilled bread with cep butter or Cornish crab over requeijão (a Portuguese cured cheese). There

One of Fitzrovia's best restaurants is going through a big change, and that's because of the departure of its superstar chef. Nuno Mendes (genuinely one of the nicest people in the London food world) is moving on to new things, and the restaurant is being relaunched as Luso.

Bar 1790 might be a brand new addition to the City, but it's following a more than 230 year old tradition for the Sandeman port company which has been based in St Swithin's Lane since 1790, hence the name of the bar.
