Chef Josh Dallaway and Sommelier Sinead Murdoch's Tasca has been extremely well received in both its original appearance at (now closed) Cav and the follow-up residency at Giacco's. Now they're launching a new residency for the summer (and maybe longer).
They'll be taking over Shoreditch cafe Project 44, and bringing in their menu, which is a crossover between Spanish and Portuguese cuisine. That means things start off with smaller plates like cured Cecina de León on grilled bread with cep butter or Cornish crab over requeijão (a Portuguese cured cheese). There will also be candy beetroots, baked in used Project 44 coffee grounds, with vinegar cream, hazelnut and nasturtiums. Then there's a Dexter beef tartare, dressed al pilpil with monkfish cheeks, Cornish mussel and chorizo rice and a Nutbourne tomato tart with manchego and watercress.
On the wine side, the new list will be Mediterranean-focused, leaning towards low-intervention winemakers and they'll be using Coravin to showcase some fancier vintages.
We were very impressed with their first outing, so if you haven't tried them yet, you should head down to Shoreditch over the summer.
