Alto 19 is a new Canary Wharf high rise restaurant from the people behind Lina Stores and Kricket

If you're looking for a new restaurant with a great view, this might be for you. A new high-rise restaurant is coming to Canary Wharf called Alto 19. 

This one comes from White Rabbit Projects, a restaurant group that has Lina Stores and Kricket under its umbrella, as well as restaurants in Locke hotels that include Nuno Mendes' restaurant in Lisbon. This latest opening is at the top of Locke Canary Wharf, and they've brought in Executive Chef Chris Dargavel to head it up. He's recently been head chef at Daphne's and before that was head chef of J Sheekey, as well as being on the launch team at Scott's. So he has a fair bit of experience under his belt. 

The menu up on Alto 19 will be a Mediterranean one that the chef is calling "deliberately unfussy". That menu starts with snacks like cacio e pepe gnocco fritto and crab fritti with aioli alongside starters like vongole vermentino bruschetta with Amalfi lemon. Pasta will be a big deal too, including porcini agnolotti with parmesan fonduta and black truffle and braised beef shin and Barolo ragu. And as for the big sharing mains, they'll have salt-baked branzino, dry-aged ribeye cottoletta with fried garlic gremolata and Sicilian sweet red prawn rice with cured lardo. 

For desserts, they'll include a caramelised citrus tart with mascarpone and chestnut honey. There will be a bar up there too, with a late licence and DJs.

It will, of course, have a pretty great view, being up on the 19th floor of the hotel, particularly of the O2 as a quick look at the map shows that the hotel's just across the river from it. There will also be a private dining room up here and we're pretty sure that will have a decent view too.
