Recently, we launched our guide to London's best restaurants in galleries and museums. Well, it turns out that one of those restaurants is about to get a large overhaul. The Royal Academy is undergoing a big expansion project, called the "RA Collection Gallery Project" and that means that José Pizarro's restaurant and the Poster Bar have had to close. And as the gallery expansion is due to last until 2027, they're not going to reopen any time soon.
But that's not it for José at the RA. He's instead moving over to the newly refurbished Keeper's House with his new restaurant called "The Keeper’s House by José Pizarro". In the dining room there, he'll be putting on a menu of sharing plates and a selection of his signature dishes, while the food will be available across some of the other rooms too.
There is a catch, though. The dining room here will only be open to the gallery's friends, patrons, members of the RA and their guests. That's certainly the plan at the beginning, but we're yet to hear if the dining room will eventually allow bookings from non-members. Still, if you are a member of the RA, you'll still be able to get your hands on José's great food there.
