23/9/25 - updated with an opening date and more details
We've known for a while that Restaurant Gordon Ramsay chef Matt Abé was taking on the old Le Gavroche site (snapped up by Gordon himself), and now we have a name: Bonheur by Matt Abé. The chef was a key reason as to why Ramsay kept those three Michelin stars at Hospital Road for so long (he took over after Clare Smyth left), so this new opening is definitely one to watch.
While they're still keeping quiet about exactly what's on the menu (which we assume is still in the stage of being finalised), we do know that the offering is being billed as "rooted in classical technique but brought to life with a contemporary touch". We also know there will be three menus - a la carte and two tasting options. Those are the 5-course menu called Journey and the 7-course menu called Dream. As with any high-end tasting experience, expect a few extra surprises in both of those.
There's also a six-seater chef's table where you'll have the Dream tasting menu and get up close and personal with the chefs to see how it's all put together.
Design-wise, it's the Russell Sage Studio in charge (who worked on Ramsay's Petrus. They say the design is "happy, warm, and glowing - we have a happy chef and a happy interior" and apparently there are "subtle nods to Abé’s Australian heritage". All eyes will be on this one, just to see how they've updated the Le Gavroche interior (which, in fairness, was probably due an overhaul).
Essentially, watch this space and we'll have more information closer to the opening.
