Since opening in Notting Hill a couple of years ago, Ria's mix of Detroit-style pizzas and natural wine has proved to be a winning formula. So much so that the people behind it, David and Ria Morgan-Ratcliffe, are getting ready to open a follow-up in Soho.
Opening just off Carnaby Street, the Soho Ria's will follow a similar approach to the original, although they're describing it as "the older sibling: same DNA, a little wiser, still a lot of fun".
So there will be Detroit pizzas available by the slice or as a whole pie. Previous favourites will be on the menu like Dave's Hot Pep (featuring pepperoni, Calabrian chillies, pickled jalapenos, stracciatella, hot honey and aged Parmesan) or the Smokey Nico (including a bechamel base, Chianti pancetta and smoked provolone). They'll also be adding a special new pizza just for Soho.
As for the wines, they will once again be a natural affair. They say to expect "chillable reds, juicy oranges, and pink pét-nats" from a selection of small, independent producers. They'll also have beer and a small cocktail list.
The space itself will fit in around 38 people across two floors, and downstairs there will be a marble sharing table "nestled among dough mixers and bags of Cotswold flour". We can see this doing very well here, just like the recently opened Marjorie's has been, only a few doors down.
