They already have pizzerias in Putney and Barnes and now Base Face Pizza are getting ready to open their next location a little further west in Richmond. It's planned to be their flagship space, taking over from their original pizzeria in Hammersmith (which closed last week).
The pizzeria has a slightly unusual origin, being set up by former professional jazz musician Tim Thornton, who started making pizzas for his friends in his back garden during the lockdown. Building up to three pizzerias a few years later is an impressive achievement, for sure.
As for the kinds of pizzas you can expect here, alongside traditional margheritas and marinaras there will be the more unusual:
- Truffle Shuffle - Truffle crema base, roast mushrooms, mozzarella, olive oil
- Manjamo 3.0 - Nduja sausage, house jalapeño jam, red onion, mozzarella, basil - white base
- British Blues - Colston Basset Stilton, Honey, Walnuts, Red Onions, Mozzarella
The new pizzeria will seat 30 (with eight more outside), and if you live in Richmond, they'll be delivering locally, of course.
