Poppies fish & chips have opened on Portobello Road

poppies fish and chips opens in Portobello

With restaurants in Spitalfields, Soho and Camden, fish and chips purveyors Poppies have headed west for the first time, opening on Portobello Road, Their new restaurant takes over what used to be a bank (and before that, a butchers) on the corner of Colville Terrace and Portobello.

Inside you'll find all the usual retro fittings you'll see in any Poppies but this one also incorporates the bank's old vault and money drop chute into the design.

"We couldn't leave West Londoners without decent Poppies fish and chips any longer," says Danny Newland, son of the group's founder Pop. "Poppies, like Portobello Road, is dedicated to preserving London’s rich traditions and history which makes it the perfect fit."

All the usual favourites will be on the menu here whether your go-to is cod and chips or a steak pie supper. They also do a hot seafood platter, rotisserie chicken and, of course, a great battered sausage.
