South London's plant-based group En Root is heading to Brixton. The brainchild of South Londoners Nish Modasia and his cousin Harshil Modasia, who also have places in Peckham and Clapham, the new cafe is being touted as the first vegan cafe to open in a UK cinema.
If you haven't been to one before, En Root focus on what they describe as an Indian fusion menu, inspired by Nish's Gujarati roots.
While the new Brixton spot will serve up customer favourites like their thali-style Don Dada Platter they're also going to have some special cinema-friendly small bites like:
- Poppanachos - a poppadom base snack topped with Dhal, Pickled Cabbage, Avocado, Raita and Spice Krispies
- Masala Mogo - a Kenyan twist on Cassava chips
- Pani Puri served with Date Tamarind Masala Water
- Beetroot Blueberry Cacao Brownie
It's a "truly magical moment" says Nish of the opening at The Ritzy. "Born and raised locally, we grew up going to the cinema, meeting friends outside and dancing to music upstairs... we feel a perfect fit to this space, place and time."
