He's worked at Noma and Momofuko Seiobo and ran a London supperclub that once saw the legend Harrison Ford turn up. Now chef John Javier is opening the doors of his London restaurant to members of the public.
The Tent (at the end of the universe) first opened back in February as part of members' club 17 Little Portland Street. But what was an invite-only spot will now be a regular restaurant that anyone can come to.
The food is a "modern representation of Middle Eastern food" with a weekly-changing menu and dishes like:
- Dairy cow rib with ras el hanout
- Carabineros prawns with baharat spices
- Secreto schnitzel
They'll also put dips front and centre with twists like hummus with chilli oil and burnt lime; tzatziki with wakame oil and taramasalata with onion ash.
Drinks sound just as interesting with cocktails featuring spirits like chardonnay grape skin vodka or coconut bourbon.
As for the name, well that's because this is a restaurant themed like a tent with canvas ceilings and low stool seating. With DJs sitting in amongst the diners at night it's certainly sounding like a vibey place to try.
