Dishoom's next south London restaurant is on the South Bank

Dishoom's next south London restaurant is on the South Bank

We're still waiting for the opening date for the new Dishoom close to Borough Market, but now it turns out they already have another opening lined up, and it's not too far away.

First reported by hospitality wevsite Caterer, they're taking over what was once a Las Iguanas restaurant in Royal Festival Hall. That's the corner section facing the river and also has a pretty extensive terrace, so it's certainly one of the prime sites in the area. The reason the news is breaking now is because they're planning a big overhaul to that terrace, most importantly adding a retractable roof. Because even though we've had a dry summer - that's definitely not going to last.

Other than that - we don't know too much more, including whether this will be a fully fledged Dishoom, or onw of their Permit Room spin-offs. Expect more news on this one later in the year, and it's unlikely to open until 2027.

It's also the second big new opening planned for the Southbank Centre, following Caravan's upcoming plans. We have to wonder if anything else might be getting ready to open there too.
