Summing it all up: Hackney Wick is home to a new sustainability-focused space called Two More Years, encouraging locally sourced dining and drinking, as well as artistic endeavours.
The low-down
Two years is a long time in the hospitality industry, and haven’t the past two years been testing? Rising from the ashes, however, is…Two More Years, a new food and event space by Josh Bowles, one of the co-founders of Silo, the world’s first zero-waste restaurant, and hospitality nightlife veteran Dan Howells. Named after the amount of time that was on the lease before the property was due to be redeveloped, Two More Years has been rescued from demolition on the canalside site formerly occupied by the Stour Space.
So, what is it exactly? The co-founders Josh Bowles and Dan Howells are keen to bring people together to celebrate food and drink from sustainable and local sources. Actively working with suppliers who are focused on minimal waste, the property will feature not just eco-minded food and drink vendors, but live music and exhibitions from local artists.
Design-wise, expect a blend of outdoors-meets-indoors set across three floors, with exposed raw brick walls, enormous hanging ivy from vaulted warehouse ceilings, raw-wood benches and original iron framework. There’s room for up to 300 people, with al fresco dining and drinking available day and night.
On the menu:
- Popular offerings from Burger and Beyond, such as the The Bacon Butter Burger (signature 45-day dry-aged beef patty, double American cheese, crispy bacon, burnt butter mayo and pickled onions) or the Vegan Mushroom Raclette Burger (panko-crusted mushroom patty, melted vegan raclette, caramelised onions, green leaves) and a Tres Leches ice cream sandwich
- Choice of 17 organic and biodynamic wines (four on tap, including a white, an orange, and a rosé)
- Craft beer from sustainable brewery, Purity Brewing Company
