Hackney folk wondering when popular restaurant Silver Lining will be reopening should put this coming Wednesday in their diary. But, when the doors do reopen, it'll be quite a different kind of place.
The intention is to turn it into the UK's first wine bar focused entirely on orange wine. In its first phase, it'll open this week as a takeaway bottle shop with over 30 varieties of orange wine to choose from.
Founders Alastair and Sarah Maddox were already doing 'Orange Wednesdays' at the bar pre-lockdown. As Sarah explains, their aim is "to present a range of orange and skin contact wine that really shows the breadth and variety of this category. Our desire is to be a place of socialising and discovery for both connoisseurs and novices alike."
Later in the year, they're hoping to reopen as a fully functioning wine bar with an entirely orange wine list and serving up seasonal small plates.
In addition to the wines at Silver Lining, you'll also be able to buy bottled cocktails from their sister bar next door, Every Cloud including their rather wonderful MarTinys. They'll also be selling coffee and pastries during the day.
