Golden Union is returning to Soho with a new buttie menu

We've already heard about how Soho is hoping to pedestrianise over the summer to give it a post-lockdown boost and now there's news of the return of a Soho staple - Golden Union. The much-loved fish and chip shop has been in Soho for 12 years and it's returning with something new - a buttie menu.

On that menu will be:

  • King Prawn buttie with chilli jam and rocket
  • Panko Chicken buttie, iceberg lettuce, and homemade coleslaw
  • Panko bread-crumbed tuna steak with homemade slaw, rocket and sriracha mayo.

All will come with a scoop of chips, of course, and there's a choice of red onion marmalade or black garlic ketchup to go alongside too. And, of course, the traditional menu of beer-battered fish ‘n’ chips, pies and saveloys will be available too.

Co-owner Kerry Brennan is very glad to be back in the restaurant:

This lockdown has been doubly awful for me because I’m normally in the restaurant every day.  I talk to our customers every day.  I talk to the homeless, the disenfranchised, the builders, the workers, office workers, tourists, tired and hungry shoppers….and people who are possibly a bit lonely.  In that respect, Golden Union provides a vital service and I’m gutted we’ve had to take that away.  I’m delighted to be trading again.

It's delivery only to start with, but with luck, they'll be up and running with takeaway soon.
