It's mildly terrifying how much of our week is sucked up by Instagram here at Hot Dinners. Put it this way, we've turned off that thing on the iphone that tells you just how much time you spend scrolling through pictures of food on your phone.
Because it really is compelling isn't it - all those lovely photos that chefs and restaurants are putting out there? So we thought we'd start an irregular feature compiling all the Insta shots that have made us want to lick our phone this week. You are most welcome.
Cornerstone's crumpet
It's the dish he's best known for (and which won our Best Dish of the Year), now chef Tom Brown has given his potted shrimp crumpet a bit of a makeover for the New Year.
Sub Cult's sarnie
We love a good breakfast sarnie as much as the next person, but c'mon this one from Sub Cult London looks insanely, kill-any-hangover-stone-dead good.
Blixen's spaetzle
If there was a dish on right now that was the very definition of comfort food it would be this beef skirt with spaetzle one from Blixen. Like a hug in a bowl.
The Royal Oak's vegan meringues
We have a feeling Dan Doherty won't be using the winning term 'chickpea slime' to describe this dish when it finally goes on the menu at his Marylebone pub, The Royal Oak. But coconut and pistachio vegan meringues with smoked coconut mousse sounds a whole load better.
The Quality Chop House's porchetta
Got a reason to celebrate? Right now, this beast of a porchetta is on the private dining menu at Quality Chop House. If you do book it out - can we come?
St John's carrot and ox heart
If you're of the mindset that you really don't like too much fannying around with your food, then this dish of grilled ox heart, with horseradish and a simple carrot poached in chicken stock should be right up your street.
