What: Ping Pan Asian
In a nutshell: MasterChef winner's latest
Summing it all up: Ping Coombes, the 2014 MasterChef winner, is bringing her Malaysian food to Selfridges Kitchen with the opening of Ping Pan Asian.
The low-down
Selfridges really does like quietly opening places - and this latest is an addition to the Selfridges Kitchen space. It's the new restaurant from MasterChef winner Ping Coombes, who also opened Chi Kitchen in Debenhams. However, Ping Pan Asian is being billed as her first solo restaurant, opening on Selfridges' 4th Floor.
It's all in combination with the PappaRich brand, and this is their first time coming to the UK. And in addition to the restaurant, there's also a deli in the Selfridges Foodhall.
As for the menu, we're promised :
- Seafood Laksa with clams, prawns, fish cake and fried tofu
- Hainanese chicken rice
- Malay flavoured curry chicken, served with coconut rice, peanuts and deep fried anchovies
- Chicken Satay and Roti Canai with Nyonya Curry
- Grilled black cod in tangy kaffir sambal on banana leaf, tamarind shallot drip with pickled shallots
