Queen's Park

Milk Beach has a big restaurant in Soho, but they originally began life in Queen's Park. However, that first Milk Beach is about to be reborn in a new guise, Bar Blondie. 

The new Bar Blondie will be a wine bar that's run by Elliot Milne (who's behind Milk Beach) with award-winning sommelier Alexandra Price (previously Bar Crispin and Plates). Leaving behind the Australian influence of Milk Beach, this time the bar is looking to Southern Europe for inspiration.

To open any really successful pub in London, you need a dream team. The Devonshire in Soho has that in spades, so does the group behind The Pelican and The Hero. Entering the fray next, in Queen's Park, are the group behind the reopening of neighbourhood pub The Salusbury.

One of the founders of Coco di Mama, Daniel Land, is opening a combo bakery/restaurant Don't Tell Dad in Queen's Park. Coming to Lonsdale Road, the strip of Queens Park where you'll find its best restaurants and bars, it'll be a bakery in the day and shift to a restaurant in the evening.

Looking at some of the recent openings, there are a few notable trends around London at the moment. Greek/Mediterranean is one and classic French cooking is another. And then there's the rise and rise of the smash burger.

LULA has been running residencies and private events for the past month or so, gearing up to today's opening. Carmel will be both a bit of a departure from what came before, but still with a touch of inspiration from North Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean. A lot of restaurants in London have taken the enforced downtime of lockdown to take stock of their business. And over in Queen's Park, Aussie restaurant Milk Beach has decided that expansion is the way forward.

The team behind the all-day restaurant, which is tucked away on Lonsdale Road mews, have taken over next door Hugo's Restaurant. They'll be doing renovations over the coming two months, during which time they'll run as an outside shop

The Queen's Park cafe game just got a whole load more interesting with the arrival of MILK BEACH on Lonsdale Road. They're promising the absolute best coffee, banging brunches and the natural wine bar and small plates offering by night sounds great too.
