Bar Blondie wine bar is taking over from Milk Beach in Queen's Park, taking Southern Europe as its new inspiration

Bar Blondie wine bar is taking over from Milk Beach in Queen's Park

Milk Beach has a big restaurant in Soho, but they originally began life in Queen's Park. However, that first Milk Beach is about to be reborn in a new guise, Bar Blondie.

The new Bar Blondie will be a wine bar that's run by Elliot Milne (who's behind Milk Beach) with award-winning sommelier Alexandra Price (previously Bar Crispin and Plates). Leaving behind the Australian influence of Milk Beach, this time the bar is looking to Southern Europe for inspiration.

That means the menu here will now take its cues from French and Italian cuisine, with dishes including small plates, fresh pasta and larger sharing plates from the grill. Just what's on that menu will be revealed closer to the opening. As for the wines, they'll have a 160 bin list, taken from across the world, with wines picked that are "underpinned by careful farming practices, expression of terroir and a respect for the land".

The place is getting a makeover, too. They say it will now be "mid-century modern artist’s living room." And on top of the food and wine, they're planning everything from DJs and poets to wine tastings and chess nights.

As regular Hot Dinners readers know, we love a new wine bar opening, and this one sounds very promising, particularly when led by such a well-respected sommelier.
