In Islington's Compton Arms, they have the very popular Four Legs residency (which we Test Drove recently). Now the Compton Arms' sister pub The Gun in Hackney has brought in a long term food residency Anju - which they're hoping will be a similar success.

The original Clapton restaurant has been a big success - so much so that My Neighbours The Dumplings are about to open in Victoria Park. Once again, it's all about the dumplings - and they're very, very good. 

A top cocktail bar and casual dining room side by side provide the perfect evening out in East London.

Expect all the carbs at Pophams Bakery's new Richmond Road space - with the open kitchen turning out viennoiserie by day and pasta by night.

Two friends, Holly and Alice, are behind the new launch, bringing with them experience at Cornerstone and in the coffee world at AllPress and Monmouth.

Modern British at Hackney Arts Centre

Comfortably riding the vegan wave, We Are Vegan Everything is a vegan cafe in Hackney from the same people behind Camden Market vegan bakery, Cupcakes and Shhht.

The P Franco team's empire continues to expand. This, their third opening, will take over the former Legs restaurant on Morning Lane with an all counter dining and drinking space.

It's most definitely the time of year where everyone's searching for something seriously hearty to eat - and a month-long pop-up in Hackney aims to provide just that. Cassoulet Nights - as the name suggests - focuses on rural French cooking. The chef in charge of things is Jacob Rosen - the former Head Chef of Pitt Cue. He's teamed up with Quite Nice Wines to provide the perfect winter combo.

It's taken millions to transform the old Savoy Cinema into a modern arts space so it's good news that their restaurant will be every bit as ambitious with former St John executive chef Chris Gillard running things.

Over in Hackney Night Tales are getting ready to launch their first permanent restaurant. Fat Baby opened earlier in the summer with a street food menu. Since then they've installed a roof (complete with Northern Lights inspired illumination) and now have a full menu planned for the 42 seat spot.

In charge of things is Head Chef Greg Round (ex Umu, Bonhams and Quality Chop House). He'll be focusing his menu on the five main cooking techniques found in Japanese
