Cassette is a modern French bistro in Covent Garden from the people who are behind Levan in Peckham. Here, they've been inspired by the new wave of Parisian French bistros, so you'll see some familiar French dishes on the menu, but with new takes form the team here. The wine list is strong, they've got a great sound system (that doesn't overwhelm) and the terrace space outside is one of the best in Covent Garden.

7 Kensington Mall, London, W8 4DY

From the people behind Dorian, Nakimushi brings together two of their former residencies with chefs Yuji Shimokawa Kelly and Robin Kosuge in the kitchen here. They're working on a modern Japanese menu that also features some particularly excellent ramen dishes, all within a beautifully decked-out Notting Hill townhouse.

The Horses is a pub by The Public House Group, known for some of London's best pubs like The Hart and The Pelican. Here, they've taken a classic Clerkenwell pub, given it a 21st-century makeover and brought in a great new menu that's strong on seafood.

Kid is a team-up between restaurateur David Carter (OMA, Manteca) and chef Sertaç Dirik, who made his name reinventing Mangal 2. It's a very modern take on a Turkish restaurant, set in a vibey room (with a door that's hard to find) and an array of fantastic small plates, from crunchy hummus to the titular Kid.
