Superette Sundays team up with Castle Gibson for a roast pop-up

superettesundayTheir first venture was a pop-up Sunday Roast supperclub at F Cooke & Sons on Broadway Market and they followed that with a Burger pop-up in the same venue. Now Superette Sundays are branching out with a new Sunday roast pop-up, this time taking place at one of the locations run by Upper Street furniture shop Castle Gibson. The chefs are brothers Ben and Matthew Bishop who've served time in the kitchens of Marco Pierre White, Gordan Ramsay, Nuno Mendes and Jason Atherton.

The next Sunday lunch will be on 19 February 2012 and the menu looks pretty good to us: starters include gin-cured smoked salmon with earl grey bread or pigs head and confit shallot terrine with sourdough. Mains are Hewitt's Farm rare rib of beef with all the trimmings, or a slow roast pork belly and goat's cheese and nut roast with candied chicory for vegetarians. Failing that you could order for your whole table the whole roast Essex bird with pigs in blankets and bread sauce or a whole slow cooked shoulder of lamb. Prices range from £5 for a starter to £65 for a table order which serves four people. For dessert there's apple and clementine crumble, chocolate brownies or Stinking Bishop with oatcakes and quince.

To apply for a place go to www.superettepopup.com and if you're successful you'll be sent the venue details.
