Mayfields in Hackney prepares a Fish Supper and a Puglian Feast

MayfieldsWe're big fans of Mayfields in Hackney as we named it our best eating out experience of 2013. So we think their two upcoming events will be well worth a visit.

On Saturday April 1st, there's a Spring Fish Supper which harkens back to the (recent-ish) days when the site was a fish and chip shop. It'll be a four-course menu with a plate of cured fish to start, then a dashi-style fish broth and that's followed by a flat fish served with new season asparagus, peas and broad beans all rounded off by a Mayfields desert. This will be matched with a one off-cocktail list for the evening including an Elderflower Tom Collins and the ‘Bicyclette’ – made with Campari and white wine.

Then on Sunday April 13th there will be a Puglian Feast by Guardian writer Jane Baxter and Christine Smallwood (aiming to represent Puglia’s reputation as the ‘garden of Italy’). This will be vegetable focussed with meat and fish used as a garnish including:

  • Grilled Altamura bread with ricotta forte;
  • Fave bean puree with green and peppers;
  • Capocollo, raw courgettes and mint;
  • Salt cod, beans, chilli and tomato.

So if you haven't yet had a chance to visit this excellent Hackney restaurant - this could be a good time...

The Spring Fish Supper on the evening of Tuesday 1st of April will cost £32 for four courses.. The Puglian Feast will run at lunchtime on Sunday 13th April at £35. Wine and drinks charged separately. To book, call 0207 254 8311.

Mayfields is at 52 Wilton Way, London E8 1BG. Find out more about Mayfields.
