Bonnie & Wild pop-up Scottish restaurant opens on Islington's Chapel Market

bonnieandwildIt's Braveheart by stealth! A Scottish restaurant is taking over that most English of establishments, M Manze's famous pie and mash shop on Chapel Market in Islington. But sassenachs can breathe easy - it's only for Saturday nights.

The plaid pop-up (yes, we have a selection of Scottish puns and we'll be using them liberally) has just opened and is the brainchild of two London-based companies who specialise in Scottish fare, The Wild Game Co and Bonnie Gull who can be found at White Cross and Leadenhall markets respectively. Their network of top suppliers means they'll be getting delivery of the best wild venison, game and sustainable seafood every week.

Chefs Iain Sim (The Mussel Inn, Edinburgh) and Isabel Widdowson (formerly of Gerard Besson, Paris) will be in the kitchens, creating dishes such as barbecued venison haunch steak in a redcurrant jus and pan-fried coley with queen scallops and a crab and samphire samphire sauce. There will also be chocolate, Drambuie and orange mousse as well as Scottish strawberries for dessert.

To book, send an email to bookings@bonniewild.co.uk but be warned - this place will be cash only (no credit for Southern bastards) and BYOB (small corkage charge applies).
