Black Roe Poke Bar and Grill from Kurt Zdesar opening in Mayfair

Black Roe Bar and Grill from Kurt Zdesar opening in Mayfair

There's a new restaurant coming from Kurt Zdesar, who's also behind Soho's Chotto Matte - The Black Roe Poke Bar and Grill - and it's taking over the space once held by Bouillabaisse.

And if you're wondering just what a Poke Bar is, it's a raw fish bar by the entrance of the restaurant where the special is - yes - poke. That's a Hawaiian marinated raw fish dish "with fresh, exotic flavours" but there will be more fresh seafood and oysters available too.

As for the grill part, that will be based around meats cooked on a Kiawe wood grill - a couple of examples being Bison rib eye steak, fennel-tomato confit & yuzu soy hollandaise and Smokey lamb rack, coconut & piquillio reduction. Downstairs, there's a chef's table for 20 lined with fresh seafood - and that's also available for walk-ins if it's not booked.

Black Roe Poke Bar and Grill opens on 29 March at 4 Mill Street, Mayfair London W1S 2AX. For more, follow them on Twitter @blackroe
