My Manor, Tom Brown's local guide to Dalston

where to eat and drink in bow

Originally from Cornwall, but now a resident of East London, chef Tom Brown currently has two seafood focused restaurants in London. Pearly Queen is his Shoreditch oyster bar and he has just opened Tom Brown at The Capital hotel in Knightsbridge. He's agreed to share his favourite food and drink spots in Dalston with Hot Dinners readers.

525 Kingsland Rd, London E8 4AR

This is easily the best pub in London for me, it’s a proper Irish dive bar with unbelievable Guinness - it’s the best I’ve had in London. There’s lots of mad, fun characters making it a proper boozer.

I know that everyone loves Mangal 2 (me included), but I just really love the more traditional mangal vibe with the grilled meats. I'll get it a lot at home on delivery, the mixed grill with lamb chops and tamarind is amazing.

They do really good Neapolitan-style pizzas, soggy ones that are delicious. I cycle past every evening on my way home from The Capital, it's open until midnight, the smell every time I go past is very tempting!

This is a small cocktail bar on Stoke Newington Road. It's a nice setting with moody lighting - perfect date night spot. Really delicious cocktails and the guys in there are brilliant - open until 2am every night, which is great.

This is a little coffee shop/deli, that I always go to on my way to Pearly Queen in the morning to get an espresso; the coffee is amazing. The deli is excellent too, they do an insane scrambled egg brioche bun. They also have a great wine selection and all the good deli stuff like tinned fish, it’s mega!
