It's been a year of new pubs with great food and there's still more to come with the relaunch of The Grosvenor Arms in Earlsfield.
Now run by a completely new team, it's getting a bit of a refresh before opening as an all-day pub. So you will be able to pop in for a coffee from first thing in the morning, but it will also have a chef in residence. And their first residency is absolutely one to check out.
Leading the kitchen for the first couple of months is Fergus Wilford. He's an ex-head chef of Fallow and he's also recently had a very successful residency at Naughty Piglets and more recently at Giacco's in Highbury. His menu there included dishes like citrus-cured grey mullet with plums, cod cheeks with mussels tartare sauce and the great-sounding potato wotsits with chive emulsion. The menu at The Grosvenor Arms is still to be announced, but hopefully those wotsits will be on there.
The folk behind the pub are a new company called Leisure Works, and it looks like they're planning to open more new pubs in the future. What we're less sure about is how they're "using AI and new technology behind the scenes" to help be more efficient. But who knows - if they come up with some working practices that help more pubs to survive, that can only be a good thing.
We'll have more details on Fergus' menu closer to the opening.
