In Islington, Homeboy has always described itself as being all about "modern Irish hospitality" and now it's about to take things one step further with a series of pop-ups from big Irish chefs throughout July, many of whom are also on our own Murphia List.
The Dúchas Chef Series will be running Thursday - Sunday every week. It's an impressive roster, including:
2-5 July, Laurence Barrow - The Northern Irish chef was a recent Great British Menu finalist, and he's bringing food from his pop-up Hearth and Tine. Dishes on his menu include stout crustade with aged beef and fermented garlic caper and a Bushmills baba with strawberry and chantilly cream.
9-12 July, Robin Gill - The man behind Darby's, Bottle + Rye and the legend that was The Dairy is going big on comfort food at Homeboy. You'll find Darby’s beef nuggets with Big Mac sauce and Durrus cheese fries with chip shop curry sauce on his menu.
16-19 July, Diarmuid Goodwin - Previously at Murano and most recently Head Chef at Sager + Wilde, he brings a contemporary approach to Irish ingredients. He'll be serving up dishes like Ballyhubbock farm halloumi with courgette relish, treacle & black lime dressing and a brown bread & chocolate parfait with bay leaf custard.
23-26 July, Paddy Maher - Most recently head chef at Pearly Queen, Paddy's menu will have more of a focus on seafood. So you'll find crispy spicebag squid & curry sauce alongside trout pastrami with tartar and brown bread, finishing off with sticky toffee madeleines and Irish whiskey caramel.
Alongside all of this, there's a new cocktail menu called Honest Cocktails, which is an homage to Ireland and in the heat we've been having, a Frozen Irish Coffee (with whiskey, kahlua, coffee, spiced Guinness demerara and condensed milk syrup), sounds fantastic.
