The good and the great in the UK hospitality industry gathered at a ceremony held at The Magazine London last night for the 2026 edition of the National Restaurant Awards.
Previously number five on the list, the already extremely popular Bouchon Racine has rocketed to the number-one spot, and was also announced as The National Restaurant of the Year. We were hooked on this Farringdon favourite from the moment chef and restaurateur Henry Harris returned to the kitchen in late 2022; you can read our test drive here.
In a first for the awards, two restaurants tied for second place: The Ritz (last year’s number one) and Osip (formerly number eight) – the latter being an excellent excuse for a jaunt to the Somerset countryside.
All up, 29 restaurants made the list for the first time this year. Think you can guess? We can divulge that 20 of these new entries are in London, though some are actually re-entries (welcome back Perilla, Tollington’s, Brawn, Kudu, and 40 Maltby Street).
