If you’re always on the hunt for a new Italian restaurant to try, there’s one coming to London that has a pretty good pedigree. We were big fans of Lita when it opened in Marylebone in 2024, and now the same hospitality group (Fortune Family) is opening a restaurant called Salone.
Menu details are a little scarce at this stage, but according to a release from The Crown Estate, seafood and meat are both key elements, and Luca Natalini is on board as executive chef; he's currently the owner and chef of Autem in Milan.
The restaurant is located just off Regent Street and used to be part of the huge Burberry's on Regent Street, housing their Thomas's Cafe (pictured above). That closed down during Covid, and there hasn't been a restaurant there since. It's a lovely double-height space; you can see more photos from our old Test Drive here.
At Salone we've been told to expect all-day dining, with counter seating and a communal table inviting a walk-in atmosphere during the day, and open kitchens across both floors; at ground level, there’s a pizzeria and on the first floor you’ll find a pasta station. We like the sound of dining at the bar, which is being specifically set up for aperitivo and evening sessions.
London may be awash in Italian restaurants, but we are intrigued by the very experienced team who are going to be behind this one.
