Tattu are taking over one of the floating Canary Wharf restaurants

A few weeks ago, we got the news that French brasserie Marceline had closed the doors of its floating restaurant in Canary Wharf. That building was empty for a long time before Marceline took it on, but it's not staying empty this time around as there's already a replacement lined up, Tattu.

This will be the second Tattu in London, following the first on Tottenham Court Road, and it's a restaurant that originates in Manchester. The same group behind it has only just opened Fenix on Piccadilly, so they're very busy right now. This latest Tattu will follow the same template as the last, being a fusion of Japanese and Chinese food. No actual details of the menu have been revealed yet, but we can expect a mix of sushi and sashimi, dim sum, Peking duck and grills like their caramel soy aged beef fillet.

As for the design, they're going to lean into the floating aspect and go for an aesthetic that's inspired by China's floating restaurants, with lots of extra lighting and neon. So it'll be very easy to spot this version of the restaurant. Canary Wharf has been without a floating Chinese restaurant since Lotus closed about four years ago, but this definitely seems like an upgrade from that restaurant's last appearance.

We'll have more details closer to the opening.
