You can hardly move right now in East London for hip vinyl bars, but one new Shoreditch spot is hoping to switch things up a level. Seedy in Shoreditch sees two well-connected bar alumni opening their first standalone venture.
What will set them apart from their fellow music bars in the city is the fact that they're eschewing vinyl and opting instead to celebrate the more modern format of CDs. There's something very retro-millennial about the idea of choosing to put CDs at the front of their offering. And, as a fun idea, in addition to a regularly changing curated playlist, guests will be offered the chance to take a lucky dip. That means they choose from a pile of CDs, all of which are in the wrong cases. You won't know what you've actually chosen until it gets played.
As for the drinks list, this is an East London bar, so it will be serving up a mix of natural wines, martinis and craft beers. And, as a further nod to the era, all the drinks coasters will be CD covers.
As co-founder Flora Poil explained to Hot Dinners, "With the nineties being so in vogue at the moment (following the success of the TV show Love Story), it sounds like we've timed our arrival on the London scene perfectly."
