MRBL in Leadenhall Market is a new British steakhouse for the City

MRBL is the City's new British steakhouse in Leadenhall Market

The City is about to get a new steakhouse, albeit with a name that's probably going to cause more than a little confusion when you try to tell friends about it. Opening in Leadenhall Market is MRBL, a restaurant that has dispensed with vowels.

Billed as a modern British steakhouse, it's set across two floors (and an outdoor terrace) with Executive Chef Matt Colk in charge (previously Aviary and The Gun) and comes from a team that previously launched Boom Bab Burger (also in Leadenhall Market).

The menu is obviously going to revolve around the steaks, with big cuts like chateaubriand and porterhouse cooked on the bone. They'll also have a steak sandwich at lunchtime that's made with slow-braised rump, smoked cheese and Guinness onions. Elsewhere on the menu, there will be grilled monkfish tail, chipolatas with English mustard, slow-braised rump croquettes, marrow mash and crispy hash browns with black garlic aioli. They're also planning a special "martini and fries" menu.

So this is one to watch for City Workers, but don't be surprised if you get some concerned looks when you try to tell people what it's called...
