A health food restaurant that's opened across Europe is making its UK debut in Soho this month as Hg Soho (known as Honest Greens on the continent).
It's taking over a space in Soho that's directly opposite Kod (and used to be Good Housekeeping). The restaurant first opened in Barcelona in 2017 and has spread to more European cities since then. They bill the restaurant as "chef-driven and plant-forward", so while there is meat and fish on the menu, there's a much bigger focus on vegetables.
The main event is driven by their "market plates" and "garden bowls", and you create your dishes from those bases. So, the former can include homemade falafel with tahini sauce or steak chimichurri. The garden bowls include spicy feta bowls or ginger honey goat. From there, you can add extra protein, sides (like portobello mushrooms and cauliflower puree) and sauces (like truffle mayo). Everything is made from scratch on site (there's an open kitchen to emphasise this), and they say there will be "no refined sugars, and nothing even remotely industrial" involved.
So ultimately it's a fast casual spot which is emphasising its care with sourcing, cooking and healthy ingredients. It's been a big hit in Europe and there's nothing quite like this in Soho, so this could end up doing pretty well.
