Humble Grape's latest wine bar is in a City of London 11th century crypt

Humble Grape's latest wine bar is in a City of London 11th century cryptHumble Grape's AI image of what the space will look like

A new Humble Grape wine bar is on the way to the City, and this one has managed to grab a pretty special location. It'll be opening in the 11th-century crypt of St Mary-le-Bow in Cheapside (taking over the space that used to be Café Below).

The wine bar will manage to fit in 60 people to drink and eat underneath the original Norman arches (as well as space outside on the terrace if the weather's decent). And it looks like they'll be making good use of mood lighting and candles to make it an impressive place to sit back with a glass of wine.

As for the wine list, it will feature 500 bottles to choose from (with help from sommeliers if you get lost in the list) and a menu of European sharing plates. So you'll find everything from baked Camembert and sharing cheese and charcuterie boards to steaks on there.

It does sound like it'll be a very atmospheric place for a wine bar, and we can see it being extremely popular with City folk.
