From starting small as a restaurant on Exmouth Market (which is still going strong), Caravan have been getting bigger and bigger over the years, with seven restaurants in London. Now they're about to open their eighth, this time inside the Southbank Centre.
We're not 100% sure which site this is taking over (if any of our readers know, do tell us), but it is apparently going to be the largest Caravan yet. As part of the work, they're going to reconstruct two railway arches and there are going to be multiple dining rooms. There will also be a cocktail bar and listening lounge (the latter now clearly mandatory for all bars), a private room and a big terrace space (probably facing away from the river, though).
Food-wise, it's going to be a similar affair to the other Caravans. So that's an all-day menu of small plates, pizzas, salad bowls and larger dishes like a Dingley Dell pork schnitzel with fried egg, a coconut red curry or a chargrilled lamb Barnsley chop. Generally speaking, it'll be a very handy restaurant to know about if you're going to a show on the South Bank.
As part of this, they're also opening a small coffee and cocktail shop called The Klink in 2027. Reading between the lines, this sounds like something they'll be hoping to roll out.
