London already has a secret tiramisu window, now a second Italian food window has opened, this time in South London. La Finestra is the brainchild of Italian-born Stefano who's been in London for 10 years working in the hospitality industry. Having worked his way up to GM at Electric Shuffle in Canary Wharf he decided he wanted to go it alone, and that was how La Finestra was born.
Visitors to the window on Merton Road have to ring a bell to get their gourmet focaccia sandwich. Right now there are 12 options available, including the following:
- Notto Pugliese - burrata, Parma ham, grilled artichokes and truffle cream
- Pistacchiosa - burrata, mortadella and pistachio pesto
- Alpino Rosso - speck, gorgonzola, tomatoes and rocket
They also do a short selection of salads, and you can even order a can of Birra Moretti to go with your sandwich.
"We try to stay authentic and respectful to classic Italian flavour and ingredients," Stefano told Hot Dinners, "so we always keep this in mind when making or changing our menu."
