Last year the Michelin Guide announced it was starting a whole new award category for hotels. In the same way that a Michelin star gave you an idea on whether a restaurant was worth going to, the Michelin key would hopefully do the same for hotels.
So far, keys have been announced for Japan, Italy, Spain, France and the US. Today, it was the turn of the UK and Ireland.
As with the stars, three Michelin keys represent the highest accolade for a hotel for being "one of the world’s most remarkable and extraordinary" places to stay. There were 14 announced in the 2024 presentation and no less than eight of those are in London. In total 43 of the city's hotels make it into the first guide which is pretty amazing.
