Anyone who's been to, works at or lives near Vauxhall or Nine Elms will have been aware of the progress of the looming pair of towers, aka One Nine Elms, that are now complete. The Park Hyatt London River Thames has taken over 18 floors of one of the towers (the River Tower) while the rest are mainly very expensive apartments.
Of course, a new hotel also means new restaurants and bars. Now that the hotel has thrown open its doors we're finally able to get a look at what those are:
Yú Gé
This is the hotel's flagship dining space, a Cantonese restaurant headed up by chef Eng Soon Yeo. The Singapore-born chef is going to bring an absolute shedload of experience to the Park Hyatt, having been Head Chef both at Hakkasan and Mimi Mei Fair before this. The restaurant's menu aims to take diners on "an authentic journey through the flavours of southern China".
Key dishes they're highlighting include the Peking duck, the steamed whole fish with ginger and spring onion, and the dim sum selection. On the menu you'll find:
- Typhoon shelter fried soft shell crab
- Honey glazed iberico barbecue pork
- Stir-fried scallop with xo sauce and asparagus
- Claypot San Pei chicken with sweet basil
Nine Elms Kitchen & Terrace and Bar & Lounge
These two spaces form the main all-day space on the hotel's ground floor and fall under the auspices of Executive Chef Fabrique Lasnon, who comes here having held the same position at both the Pan Pacific and The Savoy.
In the kitchen the menu sounds like more of a high-end international offering, so you'll be able to get mini lobster rolls, a Welsh lamb shoulder flatbread and steaks with your choice of sauce. As the name suggests there's also an outside terrace here. The bar space looks particularly nice and will serve up a range of cocktails, wines and spirits.
TAMISé Wine Library and Tea Lounge
This is the one remaining space that has yet to open. It'll be up on the first floor of the hotel, overlooking the river. There'll be a wine cellar and tasting room, and during the day this focus on a special afternoon tea experience.
In addition to all of these, there's also a lobby patisserie and we've seen some frankly stunning-looking cricket ball-shaped pastries coming out of that, so expect to see that on your FYP soon enough.
