Battersea foodies were the first to try the submarine rolls from Gerry's Hot Subs, a new business which traded out of the Foodstar Battersea Kitchen. But now the business has headed east and is about to open up on Exmouth Market.
The reason we're interested in this particular sandwich shop is the man behind it, Andre Blais. Blais is the man who founded BBQ restaurant Bodean's. Named after Andre's dad, Gerry's Hot Subs will serve up, in addition to those subs, bowls of poutine, wings and salads.
As for those subs, looking at the menu that was on offer for delivery, they should include:
- Cubano - a pressed sub with pulled pork, sliced country ham, Provolone cheese, pickles, mustard, mayonnaise and pickled red onions
- Texas BBQ Brisket - thinly sliced smoked beef brisket grilled with hickory BBQ sauce, melted Provolone cheese and topped with beer-battered onion rings
- Fish-a-Dub - cod fish goujons in panko/Parmesan crumbs topped with tartare coleslaw
Given Blais' track record and the success of Gerry's when it was just in delivery mode, the new Exmouth Market opening should be worth checking out.
