Izakaya Nights launches at Supermarket of Dreams in Notting Hill

izakaya nights supermarket of dreams notting hill

Over the past few years once shopping hours are over, the Supermarket of Dreams in Notting Hill has been turning itself into an irregular popup izakaya showcasing various chefs and their take on sushi. Now they're about to launch it as a permanent evening spot.

Izakaya Nights features a long communal table running the length of the shop. It has pretty much a dream team running it. The chefs are Jaime Finol (formerly of Sumi) and Juan Cardona (formerly of Endo at the Rotunda) while the drinks list has been dreamt up by Ale Villa (Dorian and formerly CORE by Claire Smyth) and Nathan Ho (Dorian and Lou Lou’s at 5 Hertford).

Now you'll be able to book it like a normal restaurant to try a range of traditional cooked dishes, meticulously crafted specialist sushi and Japanese cocktails.

To get an idea of what to expect, here are some examples of sushi they've been serving during their soft launch.

  • Otoro aburi  with schrenkii caviar
  • Langoustine with head coral nigiri …finished with a kiss of coal
  • Chutoro & Italian winter black truffles

So if you fancy great sushi and love the idea of dining in a store past closing hours, this will be very much your kind of thing.
