Sabor returns - and there's a brand new look for El Asador upstairs

Sabor Hamburger

They've already been open as an alfresco restaurant for the past few weeks - but now Sabor is getting ready to throw open the doors to the actual restaurant.

The much-loved (and Michelin-starred) Spanish restaurant by Nieves Barragan Mohacho and Jose Etura will be opening both floors, but the top floor El Asador is seeing the most changes. Before, that was all about communal dining which, for the near future at least, is not on the cards. So that's been converted to leather banquette seating instead, with the wood-burning asador in the centre of the room, where the Segovian Suckling Pig will be on display.

Other dishes on the asador menu include:

  • Pulpo a Feira” – served with sweet or hot paprika.
  • Ox Tail Sandwich with Mustard Aioli
  • Braised Chargrill Aubergines with Piquillo Pepper Sauce and Anchovy Dressing
  • Pan-Fried Calfs Liver, Roasted Fennel, Peppers & Potatoes with Dill Jus.

Downstairs, the counter will be back - but we're going to assume with less seats to allow people to be spread out. Still walk-in only, expect a seat there to be even more of a hot ticket.

There are new dishes downstairs too, including "Seared Tuna, Ajoblanco & Almond", "Cauliflower Steak, Romesco Sauce & Black Garlic Aioli" and "Orzo, Crisp Fry Lamb Sweetbreads with Loval Oil". Hopefully, they'll continue to serve the Hamburguesa (40 days aged Beef Mojo rojo and Papoyo Cheese) that's been a big hit on the terrace (pictured above).

On top of that, the excellent delivery service Sabor En Casa (which we took for a Test Drive) will continue. So even if you can't get to Sabor, it can come to you.
