Change is afoot for Honey & Co's sole remaining Fitzrovia location - once Honey & Smoke, it's now being relaunched as Honey & Co. Great Portland. Moving on from the Middle Eastern grill restaurant from before, it's now going to transform into a wine bar, deli and restaurant.
The deli part is particularly important, because if you are a fan of their Honey and Spice deli, that's closing at the end of March with the deli here essentially replacing it. At Great Portland, you'll find the deli counter at the front, leading to the small 40-seater restaurant at the back (which sounds similar to their Honey & Co Daily operation).
On the wine, they're working with Keeling Andrew importers (aka Noble Rot) with the list concentrating (but not limited to) Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Israel and Palestine. On the food side, things sound similar to the approach by the other Honey & Cos. Dishes include tuna crudo with grated tomato and tahini or crispy pork with oregano and candied lemon and they'll also have skewers like pork tenderloin with blackened salt and cherry relish.
So, it's a shame to see the end of Honey & Spice, but the new wine bar should definitely be worth checking out.
