Islington

We've been watching the development of a property on Islington's St Paul's Road with interest for a few weeks. Mainly because it's at the end of our road on the way to the shops and secondly because it was really shaping up into something food-related. And now we have the answer - Stoke Newington's Yield has opened a second location just off Highbury Corner.

It's taken the place of an

We're back (sort of) at Islington's The Nook, trying out their delivery-only supper club menu.

After the launch of their vegan 'butcher' (which has proven to be very popular indeed), Rudy's are also getting ready to bring their vegan diner to Islington (when restaurants open up again).

It'll be right next door to their butcher shop, on Islington's Upper Street. As with the original diner in Camden, you can expect a vegan spin to American diner classics,

As the focus on more neighbourhood openings continues, there's the arrival of a heavyweight in Islington as Neal's Yard has opened a pop-up shop in advance of a permanent shop in 2021.

The pop-up is open now and plans to remain open until the end of the year - as it really is the season of cheese at the moment. So if you're in Islington, you'll be able to pop down for a selection of their best cheese for Christmas or New Year

The Nook in Islington launched quietly in the pandemic - and turns out to be an absolute neighbourhood gem.

Chef Nuno Mendes is not someone who lets the grass grow under his feet. Over the summer the Chiltern Firehouse Chef Patron got involved with his local pub doing weekend brunches. Now he's moved into the pizza business.

If the onslaught of emosh Christmas ads has already got you sobbing into your laptop, then this story from a London pub may push you over the top.

The Duke of Cambridge organic pub in Islington is today launching an initiative to help StreetSmart - the UK charity for the homeless that normally gets its money from a donation added onto restaurant bills and whose funds have been decimated by the lockdown.

They already have a vegan diner in Camden - but in uncertain times, Rudy's have also branched into the "butchery" business in Islington - vegan butchery of course. They've taken over the site on the corner of Islington Park Street and Upper Street that was previously Burger Lux.

If you're wondering what exactly does a vegan butcher mean in practice? Well, you'll be able to stock up on some of their vegan

• Homeboy Buffalo ‘Nugs’, made using nuggets of buttermilk fried chicken and served in Homeboy’s own buffalo sauce using Irish whiskey
• Curry Chips with Ireland’s favourite classic curry sauce McDonnell’s

Islington is getting a new weekend market and has some impressive traders lined up. The traders are led by St John Bakery, so if you need a weekend Eccles cake or doughnut fix in Islington, this will be the place to come.

Almost a year ago, we reported that Corbin & King's Islington outpost, Bellanger, was to close. At the time we posited that the restaurant's Alsace menu wasn't perhaps right for the area, and now it seems we could have been right.

The site remained almost in aspic since the closure with no

With people not heading into the centre of London to work, neighbourhood bars and restaurants are getting a lot more attention - and this new opening in our own local area caught our attention. The Nook has taken over the space that used to be Linden Stores, so we popped down to find out more.

The owners are Angus and Lale Oztek-Pook. Angus is front of house and Lale the chef. Lale studied at Le
