  • London's hottest bars - the best bars to visit in London right now

    London's hottest bars

For years we’ve kept Londoners apprised of the hottest restaurants to have on their radar. Now we’re doing the same for the city’s bars. Every season, we’ll update this list with the hot new bars you should know about.

  • El Siete is a complete relaunch of the bar under Soho's El Pastor, including ice-cold margaritas in flasks

If you've been to El Pastor in Soho, you'll have noticed that their basement bar is closed for a complete overhaul. When it's finished, they'll be unveiling it as their new cocktail bar, El Siete.

The new look of the bar will be going for a brutalist and modernist approach, inspired by the same kind of architecture in Mexico City. It has a new entrance too, no longer tied to the entrance of El Pastor. You'll be able to track the bar down by the "discreet pink door" on Brewer Street and apparently that pink aesthetic will continue on the walls in the bar below.

  • Bar Crawl: we check out Cato, a bar of two halves in Covent Garden

    upstairs

Newly opened in Covent Garden, Cato is a cocktail bar of two halves, with a seasoned bartender behind the drinks. We went in for an early look.

  • Test Driving the Forbidden City bar at A. Wong - another way to try the chef's two-Michelin-starred food

    ribs

It's one of London's best restaurants and has two Michelin stars to boot. But did you know that there's a new(ish) bar at A. Wong and you can try some of their food down there? We went along to see what they're serving up.

  • Old Street bar FlipDog is using a red hot poker to make its drinks. We're not kidding.

Look, we love a gimmick as much as the next person, but even we were slightly taken aback by the upcoming Old Street bar FlipDog. The bar (which happens to be a cocktail bar rather than a hot dog place) is going to be using a Loggerhead method to make some of its drinks. That means they're going to be putting a 1200°C iron poker into the drink "to enhance flavour, texture, and aroma."

It all sounds completely wild, but the owners behind FlipDog do have prior. Co-owner Artem Skapenko co-owns HRAM and Loggerhead Kyiv, described as a hidden gem by the World's 50 Best. That also uses

  • Mr Fogg's Tavern will be taking over the space that used to be The Crusting Pipe in Covent Garden

A few weeks ago, we told you about the closure of The Crusting Pipe, a mainstay of Covent Garden for over 45 years. It was sad to see it go but, in fairness, the last time we were in the area, it was almost empty.

But now, we already know what's taking its place - it's the latest opening from Mr Fogg's. They're a group that have taken over quite a few difficult sites and made a success of them, so perhaps they're the ones who can bring some life back to this part of

  • Covent Garden is getting a New York-inspired cocktail bar called Cato

Covent Garden is getting a New York-inspired cocktail bar that sounds like it could be very useful for brightening up January.

Called Cato, the bar is inspired by Cato Alexander, a New York bartender from the 18th Century, about whom Wikipedia says: "cocktail historians consider him to be 'America's first celebrity bartender.'" We didn't know there was such a thing as cocktail historians, but there you go. It comes from hospitality group Bart & Taylor, along with bartender Angelos Bafas (aka

  • Dalston's getting a modern Italian called HOAX with a secret late night cocktail bar

Dalston's getting a modern Italian called HOAX with a secret late night cocktail bar

After what seems like quite a while since we got too excited about the food and drink scene in Dalston, it all seems to be happening on the Kingsland Road at the moment. Just weeks after new East London pub The Black Eel opened its doors, a very interesting new Italian is about to be unveiled.

HOAX is being billed as a modern Italian restaurant with a 'secret'

  • Actually good places to go drinking in the West End when the pubs have shut

    bars open late in london

The debate about whether or not London truly is a late-night city rumbles on, but the fact remains that we’ve all been in the position of wanting the party to go on, once the pubs have shut. The next time you find yourself in central London fancying ‘just one more’ here’s our pick of the bars worth trying.

  • BOX are now the people opening that huge sports bar on Piccadilly Circus

BOX are now the people opening that huge sports bar on Piccadilly Circus

    Updated 13/10/25 with launch details

For a long time new sports bar Blackwood was being previewed with huge hoardings in Piccadilly. It was supposed to be from the ETM Group, the people behind other sports bars like Greenwood in Victoria and Beechwood in Shoreditch. However, things went a little quiet on that front in recent months. Now it turns out that a

Wildflowers adds a Basque-style pintxos bar upstairs in Belgravia, along with gildas and cheesecake

About a year after opening, Wildflowers are changing things a little bit in their bar. What was once simply their upstairs wine bar (albeit in a space which we really loved), is being transformed into a new Basque-style wine and pinxtos bar called Bar

  • Kamara sees Brother Marcus opening an Eastern-Med-influenced cocktail bar in Soho

Kamara brings an Eastern-Med-influenced cocktail bar to Soho from the Brother Marcus team

The team behind Brother Marcus (best known for their Mediterranean brunches) are trying something a little different for their next opening. They've taken over the bar space that was the original Blind Pig bar (above Jason Atherton's Social Eating House), and they're launching their own Eastern-Med-influenced cocktail bar.

  • A rooftop bar with Insta-worthy views of Big Ben has opened for the summer

    searcys rooftop bar westminster

London's rooftop bar scene is stupidly competitive but one new opening this summer has an ace up their sleeve. Searcy's Bar & Brasserie in Westminster has been open for a while, but this is the first year they've let the general public up to their roof terrace. For the summer season, they've teamed up with the Bolney wine estate for a bar that has frankly jaw-dropping views of one of the city's most recognisable

  • The Clove Club bar is back, serving up versions of its classic dishes for the summer

The Clove Club bar is coming back for the summer

We were big fans of the bar at The Clove Club when it was open. It was a great opportunity to try the food and a few cocktails there without signing up for the pricey tasting menu (the dinner menu now starts at £180). Well now, for the rest of the summer, the Clove Club bar is coming

  • Dom's Subs are taking over the kitchen at Old Street sports bar The Volley

    dom's subs volley bar

London's sports bar scene is pretty competitive. And if you want to stand out from the crowd when it comes to somewhere good to watch all the sporting action, then food is a good way to do that. So we tip our baseball hats today to Old Street sports bar The Volley, which just announced it's getting the Dom's Subs team to do their food from this summer.

Super Subs, as the new venture is being dubbed ("in homage to all the
