  • High-end modern Indian restaurant Trèsind reveals its London opening plans

1/5/26 - Updated with full details about the opening.

A modern Indian restaurant that started life in Dubai (before opening in Mumbai too) is coming to London.

Trèsind describes itself as a "modernist Indian dining experience", so it's a high-end affair. The Dubai menu features dishes like scarlet prawns crudo and A5 wagyu striploin pathar kebab. However, it seems that they're doing something a little different in London.

In Mayfair, it will be a tasting-menu-only affair. Overall, the menu is led by Tresind's Chef Himanshu Saini, while the kitchen in

  • Great British Menu winner Nikita Pathakji is opening her first restaurant MAAI in Clapham with her family

What better way could there be to launch your first solo venture as a chef than being crowned Champion of Champions on Great British Menu the day before you make the big reveal. Chef Nikita Pathakji may have had a tricky path to winning this year's show (she wasn't in the running for the final at all, until rival Corrin Harrison had to pull out for personal reasons) but she more than proved herself and now she's immediately switching things up by opening a restaurant in Clapham.

MAAI is going to be very much a family affair with Nikita's mother Rima and sister Isha both playing a

  • The Talli Queen sees The Queen Adeleide in Shepherd's Bush reborn as an Indian pub by chef Avi Shashidhara

The Queen Adelaide pub in Shepherd's Bush closed last summer, but the pub is now returning under a new guise, called The Talli Queen.

It comes from chef Avi Shashidhara, who previously worked at Claude Bosi's Hibiscus and then had a long stint at The River Cafe before launching the kitchen at Pahli Hill Bandra Bhai in Fitzrovia. He also won the starter section of Great British Menu in 2023, so you might also remember him from that series.

It's the latest pub to relaunch with a strong focus on Indian food, much like The Tamil Prince (and Crown) in Islington. They say that

  • Asma Khan's Darjeeling Express is on the move again

Asma Khan's hugely successful Darjeeling Express has moved around quite a bit in the past. It originally started as a supperclub in Soho, then opened in Kingly Court. It moved to Covent Garden for about a year and a half and then back to Kingly Court for its longest stint yet. But now, after three years, Darjeeling Express is on the move again.

The new Darjeeling Express will open at 36-40 Rupert Street, taking over the space that was once Hovarda (and for a short while David Thompson's Long Chim). It's a much bigger space than the current Darjeeling Express (it will fit in

  • The Soho Tamila will be the curry house's biggest yet

The team behind The Tamil Prince (and The Tamil Crown) are getting ready to open the latest of their curry house spin-offs, Tamila, and this one is their most central yet. The new Tamila is opening in Soho, which they're touting as being their flagship space. It's taking over a prominent corner site on Poland Street that was most recently the Obica Mozzarella bar.

As with the other Tamilas (in Clapham and King's Cross), this is pitched as a modern version of a curry house with a focus on South Indian cuisine, influenced by executive chef Prince Durairaj’s heritage. So, the
